Student Organizations

From the very beginning of veterinary school, I knew how important it would be to be a leader in student organizations.  So, I chose my favortite three groups, and three elections later, I found myself in three officer positions!

I sought election to the Executive Board of the VBMA as Treasurer because I wanted experience managing its budget.  At $15,000, it was the largest of all of the college's student organizations!  My favorite part of this position was organizing a guest lecture by Dr. Ken Rotondo about customizing client communication.

I took on the SAVMA officer position of International Veterinary Student Respresentative because of my interest in veterinary medicine in developing nations.  After spending one semester in Tanzania with a Wildlife Conservation and Political Ecology program, I wanted to do more international work as well as help other students gain valuable international experience.  I found it extremely rewarding to organize a bake sale to support the Himalayan Animal Rescue Team after an earthquake in Nepal in 2015.

As Calendar Chair of Cornell's only veterinary professional fraternity, I spearheaded our organization's largest annual fundraiser, the Men of the Vet School calendar!  We sold 1,000 calendars worldwide and raised over $2,000 to donate to the Cornell University Hospital for Animals' Patient Assistance Fund, which benefits members of the community and their pets by providing financial resources to owners who cannot otherwise afford the medical care their pet needs.  It was so fun for all of our hard work to be featured on websites like Huffington Post and USA TODAY!
